We are excited to begin a new school year at Early College High School.
Entering our fifth year, we are still elated by the success of our first graduating class of 2024. Many have won awards and scholarships and are beginning their journey into higher education. Our first graduating class will always remain near and dear to our hearts and will serve as the foundation for what we have built through constant support and motivation. The Class of 2024 has set the bar for student success for years to come.
Over the last four years our program has grown exponentially, starting with slightly more than 20 students and now growing to more than 150. We are humbled by the interest and enthusiasm that the District and the community have shown toward Early College High School and we remain committed to providing the most academically engaging and supportive environment possible for our students.
As a highlight, in the summer of 2024 we hosted our ECHS Biz and STEM Summer Enrichment Program for the first time on the campus of Post University. We look forward to making stronger connections with our partner, Post University, as well as other universities, including Connecticut State-Naugatuck Valley and the University of Connecticut, in order to increase college access and readiness for our students.
Several of our students also worked in internships over the summer through the City of Waterbury's internship program and summer jobs as well as through the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board. Additionally, we had students participate in summer programming through Upward Bound and CT State-Naugatuck Valley.
As a team, we will continue to hold high academic, social, and civic expectations for our students and we will continue to support them and their families along their journey towards college and career readiness. We will continue to encourage our students to take advantage of college and career exploration opportunities, both here and at the school and out in the community. We will also charge our faculty and staff with the responsibility of ensuring that our students are getting the most engaging learning experiences and are provided with the essential resources they will need to be successful scholars.
Again, we believe in the ECHS's ability to change the lives of our Waterbury students, their families, and ultimately their communities. Our partnerships with Post University and other community stakeholders will remain key factors in our success as we remain committed to our charge of making diamonds out of our scholars.
Sincerely,
Mr. Sean M. Mosley
Administrator of the Early College High School
